Mundus Bridge Finance, a private debt fund of INVL, the leading investment management and life insurance group in the Baltics, will invest EUR 9.5 million into renewable energy company Green Genius projects in Romania.
Provision of the financing, by purchasing a private placement of bonds for Green Genius projects in Romania, is planned in several stages. The first investment by Mundus Bridge Finance will amount to EUR 0.5 million.
“We value Green Genius’s experience managing projects both in Lithuania and foreign markets. Our team has a great deal of experience assessing the risk of such projects, since part of the fund’s portfolio involves the financing of renewable energy projects,” says Viktorija Vaitkevičienė, the CEO of Mundus, the asset management company that manages the Mundus Bridge Finance private debt fund.
Green Genius, which operates in eight European countries, will use the funds raised to finance solar power plant development in Romania.
“Romania is an important market for Green Genius and for European green transition. We aim to develop and construct 500 MW of renewable energy projects in the coming years in that market. Such intense development requires efficient and clever financing. We see Mundus as a flexible, reliable, long-term financing partner for renewable energy projects,” says Rokas Bancevičius, the CFO of Green Genius.
Romania’s geographic location is particularly favourable for solar power plants due to its high number of sunny days. In addition, the regulatory environment in the country has recently improved. That is bringing increasing attention from international investors to renewable energy projects in Romania.
Mundus Bridge Finance, an open-ended fund for informed investors, seeks a stable long-term return by investing in private debt securities of companies in the fast-growing alternative finance sector and providing bridge financing for projects of various types. Since its launch in 2015, the fund has completed 22 transactions. At the end of September 2023, Mundus Bridge Finance had assets under management of EUR 29.4 million.
