BAIP has renewed magnetic tape libraries at the Bank of Lithuania. The company has won an open public tender and completed the project with the value of 0.5 million EUR.
Tape library is a reliable and cost effective solution for information storage. Such equipment is mostly used for archiving and backup. Tape libraries can be managed centrally and provide access to large quantities of data via internet connection. They do not need constant energy supply and might be up to 60% more cost-efficient than energy dependent hard drives.
“We offered the Bank of Lithuania hardware and software developed by our partner IBM, because IBM products are remarkable for their excellent performance”, said Mr Gytis Umantas, BAIP CEO.
BAIP provides services to local and foreign central banks. In April 2014 the company has signed two contracts with Burundi Central Bank and will modernise and maintain the infrastructure of the bank’s data centre that supports the national payment system.
BAIP provides critical IT infrastructure solutions, including IT infrastructure strategy and architecture, software and hardware supply, IT security and maintenance services for more than 200 largest organisations in Lithuania.
